LHMS Teacher Wins Champions of Learning Award!

Mrs. Jennifer Neill has just won the Champions of Learning award from the Consortium for Public Education in the Educators 7-12 field! Congratulations on this well deserved award!

Mrs. Neill is a seventh grade English teacher at Laurel Highlands Middle School in Uniontown, PA. This year marks 19 years of teaching, with 17 years at LHMS.

Mrs. Neill earned her B.S. degree in Elementary Education from California University of PA, and attained certifications in both Middle and High School English (7-12). Recently, she became a Google Level 1 and Level 2 Certified Educator.

In addition to time spent in her classroom, Jennifer takes on many other roles at school. These include Newspaper Sponsor, Yearbook Co-sponsor, Quiz League, Mid-High Forum, NJHS Faculty Council, SAP, Grade 7 Bullying, Pony Pantry Committee, and more. Education has always been an important part of her life, as her mother, and several family members, are also teachers.

Throughout her career, Jennifer received many professional distinctions, including “Heart of the Mustang” awards, “Golden Mustang” awards, and NIE “Teacher of the Year.” In 2019, after receiving the most nominations in their listening area, she was interviewed on Froggy 94.9 radio in recognition of “Teacher Appreciation Week.”

Jennifer often refers to herself as a “school mom” to her students, and respects and treats them as such. She has always lived by this teaching philosophy, and as a result, keeps in touch with many former students into their adult lives. She is married to her wonderful husband Leonard, has two beautiful daughters, Haley and Hannah, and owns three frisky cats. In her free time, she loves working out and being an “extra” in the movie business.
